In Tunisia, next month the sixth festival "Days of Masks" will start under the slogan "Marionettes, Art and Life". A total of 19 countries will participate in the event. The festival program, organized by the National Center for Puppet Arts, presents 33 shows and will run until February 8. Among them are 25 Arab and foreign performances, as well as all eight Tunisian representations. The organizers selected two Tunisian shows for the opening and closing of the festival: "Msakh" for the opening and "Nith" for the closing.
Other performances will be presented from the UAE, Algeria, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Brazil, Russia, Estonia, Austria, and other countries.
"Msakh" is a Tunisian word meaning "mask", while "Nith" symbolizes thread, representing a connection between the past and present.
