Tunisian Play 'Al-Harabat' Wins Top Prize at Arab Theatre Festival in Cairo

The play 'Al-Harabat' by director Faouzia Taboubi was named the best at the 16th Arab Theatre Festival in Cairo. The jury, chaired by Palestinian actor Kameel Basha, awarded the top festival prize to the Tunisian production after a week of deliberations.

The Tunisian play "Al-Harabat" (The Runaways), written and directed by Faouzia Taboubi, won the His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi Award for Best Play at the 16th Arab Theatre Festival, which concluded two days ago in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. The head of the jury, Palestinian actor Kameel Basha, said: "After the committee held seven consecutive meetings during the festival days, in which all plays were analyzed and discussed in depth, the committee decided to award the prize to the Tunisian play 'Al-Harabat'." Cairo hosted the festival, organized by the Arab Theatre Authority, from the 10th to the 16th of the current month, and the competition featured 14 plays.
