During the 42nd session of the Council of Ministers for Internal Affairs of Arab countries, held in the capital of Tunisia, key issues of security were discussed. The session included participation from ministers of internal affairs from various Arab countries, as well as high-ranking representatives of human rights organizations.
The meeting also featured representatives of the Arab League, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), the UN Office on Counter-Terrorism, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the European Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol), the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, and the Arab Police Sports Association. The importance of police cooperation between the European Union and the Arab world was also underscored by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Portugal.
Discussions at the session centered on key security initiatives, including the project of the unified phase of the Arab strategy to combat the illicit use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, the second phase of the Arab strategy for citizen security (citizen defense), and the second phase of the Arab strategy to combat cybercrime.
On the agenda of the day, the reports of the Secretary-General on the activities of the General Secretariat between the 41st and 42nd sessions were also considered, as were the reports of the President of the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences on the security sciences.
It should be noted that the Leader of the Emirates, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, headed the delegation from the UAE at the session and conveyed the greetings of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the President of Tunisia, Kais Saied, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and generous hospitality.
