French Tourist Arrested for Theft in Monastir

According to information, Tunisian authorities detained a French woman who stole a bag from a Tunisian tourist at Monastir airport. It turned out that the bag was equipped with a GPS tracker. According to the statements of the Monastir court representative Fred ben Djaha, at the beginning of the complaint from the Tunisian citizen, security forces were able to track the tourist thanks to the GPS system connected to the bag.

The provided data indicated that the Tunisian tourist received a notification through a mobile application that determined the location of the stolen bag with the help of a tracker in the hotel located in the tourist area of Monastir. Ben Djaha noted: "It was clear that the tourist had stolen a bag with money and perfumes, having disposed of the GPS device, throwing it in the garden of the hotel as soon as she noticed it."

According to the statements of the court representative, the Tunisian tourist waived her right to judicial proceedings after returning her belongings, although the prosecution insisted on conducting an investigation against the perpetrator.
